Policy Brief: Strengthening Ghana’s Response to Neglected Tropical Diseases

Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) continue to affect some of Ghana’s most vulnerable communities, perpetuating cycles of poverty, disability, stigma, and social exclusion. While significant progress has been made through community-based interventions and partnerships, critical gaps in funding, healthcare integration, surveillance, and infrastructure continue to hinder elimination efforts.

In this policy brief, Hope for Future Generations (HFFG) highlights the human and economic cost of NTDs, showcases successful community-led approaches, and presents practical recommendations for policymakers, health authorities, development partners, and citizens. The brief calls for sustained domestic investment, stronger primary healthcare systems, improved data collection, and collective action to ensure that no Ghanaian is left behind in the fight against neglected tropical diseases.
