Hope for Future Generations Receive 3 Awards Under the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project

Hope for Future Generations (HFFG), is a sub-grantee under the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project, being implemented by John Snow Incorporated (JSI) in the Ahafo Region of Ghana.  HFFG has received three (3) awards for high performance under the project.

The goal of the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project is to further strengthen the capacity of Ghanaian Local Partners to implement and provide leadership for HIV prevention, care, and support services to Key Populations ((KPs) and Persons Living with HIV (PLHIV) in Ghana.

At a CSOs Performance Award Ceremony held on 20th September 2022, at Busia Beach Resort in Takoradi, HFFG was recognised as:

  • The best performing CSO in the submission of timely quality monthly technical reports,
  • in the usage of well-structured social mobilization strategies and approaches to reach targeted persons including marginalized groups for HIV testing services.
  • The best performing CSO  in consistent use of gender-based violence and intimate partner violence prevention approaches and mechanisms to offer HIV testing services to targeted persons, including marginalized groups. The awards were received on behalf of Management by Ms Rose Baalaboree the Program Coordinator and, Mr Collins Dzitrie, the M&E Officer. The awards were presented by Mr Benneh Diawuo, JSI Senior Technical Advisor.

Management dedicated this award to the beneficiaries, volunteers, case managers, and the Project team, noting that such a feat couldn’t have been possible without teamwork and passion from all corners. The Executive Director of HFFG, Cecilia Senoo also commended HFFG management and JSI staff for their leadership and continuous support to the project team.

HFFG in 2021 implemented the USAID Strengthening the Care Continuum Project in Ellembelle, Jomoro and Nzema East Districts located at the Western region of Ghana and now implementing it in Asunafo North, Asunafo South, Asutifi North, and Asutifi South districts in the Ahafo region.

As of August 2022, HFFG had successfully reached and brought back to care, 451 clients who had missed appointments or interrupted treatment in the 4 districts of the Ahafo region. One such beneficiaries is Suzy (not her real name), who had interrupted treatment for 13 months.

According to her, she decided to stop attending the hospital due to fear of stigma, rejection, and the belief that HIV is a spiritual disease. Suzy’s health condition deteriorated, but with the help of the HFFG project team and partners like the Ghana Health Service, she was linked back to treatment and now living healthy and happy.

“I am enjoying my life again. My advice to fellow clients is that no one should interrupt treatment. If you interrupt treatment due to circumstances beyond your control, go back for your medication to avoid what I went through because you may not be fortunate to get a saviour as I had in HFFG,” she said.

Hope for Future Generations congratulates the project team for their hard work and dedication.
