My name is Mustapha Adiatu, and I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Health Information. As a passionate advocate and a proud Girls and Young Women (GYW) leader in the SHE LEADS project, my journey has been nothing short of transformative.
Through SHE LEADS, I’ve participated in empowering workshops on topics such as time management and communication skills, leadership, menstrual hygiene, teenage pregnancy prevention, gender equality, advocacy, community scorecards, self-confidence and assertiveness, early/forced marriage prevention, harmful cultural practices, risky behaviors, and data collection tools like the time diary and community scorecard. These sessions have equipped me with invaluable skills, confidence, and knowledge that continue to shape my personal and professional growth.
I’ve had the privilege of participating in radio discussions, conducting peer-to-peer training, addressing audiences during the SHE LEADS Menstrual Hygiene Webinar, meeting the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, and being selected as a SHE LEADS UN Youth Cohort Advocate. Each opportunity has enhanced my ability to advocate for change and inspire others.
The SHE LEADS project has been a life-changing experience for me. Once a shy and reserved individual, I now confidently express myself in public and academic settings. I’m thrilled to share that I will be participating in the upcoming Mrs. Guiding Volta pageant, a platform that empowers young girls in the Volta Region. I look forward to showcasing my talent, confidence, and passion for social change on this stage.
My vision, shaped by SHE LEADS, is to continue empowering girls and young women in my community through advocacy and education. I aspire to become a leading health information expert, championing healthcare accessibility and equity. By collaborating with stakeholders, I hope to address harmful cultural practices, combat gender-based violence, and inspire others to embrace confidence, self-expression, and the pursuit of their limitless potential.
To every girl out there, I say: Be unapologetically yourself. Be confident and assertive. Your voice matters, and your potential is limitless. SHE LEADS has ignited a spark within me, and I am committed to spreading that spark to create a brighter, more equitable future for all.
