At its annual retreat from 4th to 6th April 2023 in Mexico City, the Developing Country NGO (DCNGO) Delegation elected the Founder and Executive Director of Hope for Future Generations (HFFG), Mrs. Cecilia Lodonu-Senoo, as a Board Member (BM) to the Global Fund from 2023-2024.
The DCNGO Delegation works to strengthen the engagement of civil society actors and organizations in developing countries to contribute towards achieving its vision which includes living in a world in which AIDS, TB and Malaria are no longer global, public health and human rights threats.
Mrs. Cecilia Senoo is an experienced nurse, midwife, social worker, and gender equality champion with over 27 years of experience in non-governmental organizations. She has been part of the DCNGO Delegation since 2021. Cecilia acted as Chair of the Ghana TB and HIV oversight committee (2017-2018) and the Chair of the Ghana Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) from 2018-2020. Cecilia holds several important global roles including the Co-chair of GFAN International and GFAN Africa.
At the same retreat, Yolanda Paula, a member of the Jamaican Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) was also elected as an Alternate Board Member (ABM) to the Global Fund.
Commenting on the elections, the outgoing leadership of the DCNGO, Dr. Carolyn Gomes (BM) and Dr Andriy Klepikov (ABM) expressed optimism and confidence in the new leaders.
“It is so heartening to see such strong leadership stepping up for the DCNGO and I look forward to serving under the new leadership team,” Dr. Carolyn Gomes said.
“The incoming leaders will continue to amplify the voices of civil society and community-based groups in developing countries at the Global Fund Board,” Dr. Andriy Klepikov also said.
The current Board representatives will continue to serve in their roles until 1 July 2023 when the incoming leadership will officially assume their roles as BM and ABM respectively.
