Brief Profile of HFFG

We have received a three-year funding from the Global Fund through WAPCAS as a sub-recipient to implement HIV and TB interventions for key and vulnerable populations. 

Background

The WAPCAS/Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) project (2024-2026) is an intervention, continuing the legacy of past Global Fund-funded Project. The primary focus of the GC7 grant is to strengthen access to health related and human rights services. 

Goal and Objectives 

The goal of the HIV component of the GC7 grant is to achieve epidemic control and the fast-track targets of 95-95-95 by 2025. Its objectives are to:

  • Empower the beneficiaries to prevent new HIV infections 
  • Ensure the availability of and accessibility to prevention, treatment, care and support services 
  • Mitigate the social, mental and economic effect of HIV on persons infected and/or affected by HIV 

Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounts in Xero
  • Ensure that financial statements and records comply with laws and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations of the organization
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual finance report to Finance Manager, documents for periodic financial reporting including report to donors;
  • Follow up with project staff to ensure that liquidation of travel advances and expense reports are submitted within the deadlines;
  • Review expense reports submitted by staff to ensure their compliance with organization policies and procedures.  

Minimum Requirements

  1. Work experience as an Accountant in an NGO/Civil Society Organization
  2. Proactive and must be able to work independently and carrying out routine responsibilities with minimum supervision 
  3. Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  4. Hands-on practical experience in working with accounting software like Xero 
  5. Advanced proficient in MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  6. Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  7. Must be a team-player
  8. Ability to answer most inquiries and questions independently and follow up on requests in an efficient manner

Qualification 

  • BSc in Accounting and Finance or its equivalent with 3-5 years relevant experience in the NGO Sector / Civil Society Organisation;
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the accounting principles, practices,
    standards and laws & regulations
  • Knowledge in the use of accounting software, preferably XERO, will be an added advantage;
  • Should have a hands-on experience in filling of Returns;
